Climatic Conditions

There are three climate regions along the East Coast. Look closely at the East Coast Map: from the southern part of Maine through Philadelphia, the area experiences a temperate climate and from Washington DC to northern Florida, the region experiences a subtropical climate. South Florida is the warmest of the coastal states with a tropical climate.

The East Coast receives a good amount of rain throughout the year and this holds true for snow as well, as the northern areas in the East Coast experience snow from three-to-five months in any given year.

Geography of East Coast States

As shown in the East Coast Map, the geography of the coastal states plays into four separate seasons and East Coast citizens get to enjoy nature in all its different stages throughout the year.
One season that draws a great many visitors is the Fall. This is due to the changing colors of the leaves on the trees. Starting in Maine and slowly moving on down to Georgia, many people plan their vacations around ‘peak’ fall colors.
Much of the northeastern area on East Coast USA is mountainous. Two notable places, in particular, are the Green Mountains (Vermont) and the White Mountains (New Hampshire).

People and Culture

People who live in the East Coast USA can be friendly and helpful, although it may take a little while before they warm up. They are generally very direct, and so when you ask a question, be prepared for a straight, if not blunt, answer. The culture is often more fast-paced than in the more laid-back West Coast-in fact, there is a running joke about how fast East Coast-ers walk in the streets of Boston or New York City.
