Far from the hustle and bustle of big cities, Dade City is located in the beautiful rolling hills of eastern Pasco County, in the state of Florida, USA. Surrounded by the neighboring communities of San Antonio, Darby, St. Leo, St. Joseph, Lacoochee, Trilby and Ridge Manor, Dade City has a simpler, more peaceful and serene atmosphere.
Downtown Dade City is a favorite destination for many visitors who love to spend a leisurely day walking down its meandering roads exploring, eating and shopping.
Established in 1889, and now the county seat of Pasco County, Dade City houses a number of architectural delights dating from the late1880s in the form of churches, homes, etc. Due to its historic heritage, arresting physical features and spirited citizens, it is a significant part of Florida travel.
Although the greater Dade City area has a history of agriculture and citrus and cattle production, its economy has now become more diversified and employment has shifted more to service, government and retail jobs. But horse and cattle ranching, citrus farming and nurseries are still an important part of the economy.
Dade City annually organizes a number of popular community-sponsored events like the Kumquat Festival, Church Street Christmas and the Country Christmas Stroll. The Kumquat Festival celebrates the harvest of kumquats, a sweet and sour fruit that is a member of the citrus family.
Educational institutions like the St. Leo University and the Pasco-Hernando Community College located here are amongst the best in Florida. Dade City also has a number of well maintained Florida golf courses like the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club, Scotland Yards Golf Club, Triple-S Golf Ranch, etc. Its unique shops give one a taste of Florida shopping and its restaurants offer French, Mandarin, Chinese, Italian, Mexican and almost all types of tempting cuisines that one can think of.
The Pioneer Florida Museum, founded and maintained by local residents, is located in Dade City. Other notable locations here are the Jefferson Super Center, Dade City Shopping Plaza, Higate Square, etc. As far as hospitality is concerned, the city has some of the finest hotels in Florida, like Ancient Oaks Motel, Church Woodrow, etc.
