Belton, established in 1850 as the county seat of the Bell County, in Texas, USA, is a beautiful and exciting place. The area was first settled in the late 1840s. Belton was in fact the new name given to the county seat of Bell County, earlier called as Nolanville. This new name was given by the Texas legislature while incorporating the town in 1851.

A small log courthouse was erected on the courthouse square in 1852. But the present courthouse now standing on that place was built in 1886 and is the third courthouse of Belton since the first log cabin one. The Bell County Museum still contains a replica of this historic courthouse in the form of a scale model. The Museum is located in the beautifully restored Carnegie Library. The museum also contains memorabilia from the administration of Miriam "Ma" Ferguson, Texas' first woman Governor.

The City of Belton has approximately 145 acres of parkland including community parks, neighborhood parks, and special purpose parks. The Heritage Park, Chisholm Trail Park, Yettie Polk Park and Confederate Park are Belton's community parks serving families and other groups. The neighborhood parks like the Beall Park, South Wall Park, Housing Authority Park, and Quail Meadows Park are average sized parks providing recreational opportunities for the residents. The city also has many Special purpose parks like the Continent Field, Lions Field, Griggs Field, etc. One should definitely include Belton on Alabama travel list and enjoy its beauty. The La Quinta Inn & Suites and the Budget Host Inn are some of the best Belton hotels, equipped with convenient amenities to provide a relaxing and comfortable accommodation.
