Agawam is a city in the Hampden County, of Massachusetts, USA. Incorporated as a town in 1855, it is about 2 miles south west of Springfield, and 82 miles west of Boston. The city is a part of the surrounding Springfield metro area. It has a Mayor-Council form of government.

While it's numerous state parks, golf courses, bike paths, and vast open spaces cater to relax and refresh every soul, the Agawam high school and other schools look after the more serious educational concerns of its citizens. Robinson State Park, Hampton Ponds State Park, Chicopee State Park, Mount Holyoke Range State Park, Sandisfield State Forest, etc. are some of the parks in and around the city. The Connecticut River separates Agawam from Springfield on the northeast and from Longmeadow on the east.

The Agawam Library, from its humble beginnings in 1892 with a mere 700 books has now grown to become an important community center where residents come for books, CDs, information, etc.
