Associations and organizations were formed in different countries of South America including Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Chile and others. Almost all the South American countries selected a National Team of their own. The victories at competitions like Copa America and international sports meets like FIFA World Cup, the Olympics and others proved the talent of soccer players from South America. The clubs of South America also contribute to the development of South American Soccer.
The most significant of the countries involved in South American Soccer are Argentina and Brazil. Some of the players of Argentina who achieved international fame are Gabriel Batistuta, Juan Sebastian Veron, Claudio Lopez and others. Players like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos have made Brazil proud. Argentina has in its repertoire wins at FIFA World Cup, Copa America and other such honors a number of times. The soccer team of Argentina are also silver medal winners at the Olympics.
Brazil has also been the winner of these competitions a number of times.
