Movado

Movado is a Swiss watch brand which is even referred to as Esperanto that stands for “movement”. Founded way back in 1881 by Achilles Ditesheim, Movado is based in La Chaux-de-Fonds in the country of Switzerland.

Movado Swiss watches are popular globally for its Museum watches which are designed with a black clock face along with a single point at twelve o'clock. The simple yet elegant design concept of Movado was made by the American designer Nathan George Horwitt in 1947. This design concept of Movado Museum watches was quite evocative and represented the sun dial, while the dot denoting the sun at high noon.

The Museum Dial is the signature design of Movado watches with has no markings within the minutes or hours dial. This particular design of Movado swatch watches are also known as “boss's watch". The year of 2006, was a day of celebration for Movado which completed its 125th year of watch making.

Movado watches are developed with quartz and automatic movements and even markets other brands like Concord, Ebel, ESQ Swiss, Coach Watches, Hugo Boss Watches, Tommy Hilfiger, Juicy Couture, and Lacoste Watches.

The company supported the construction of a public clock which was designed by the architect of the name Philip Johnson, located outside Lincoln Center in New York City. The manufacturing unit in Movado is in Switzerland while its corporate headquarters is in Paramus within the country of New Jersey in USA.

In 2006 Movado celebrated its 125th year of watch making and of late has got enough publicity in various popular magazines and publications.

Movado watches are sold mostly in places like North & South America, Europe, Asia & the Far East. Apart from fashion watches, jewelry and gifts are also found in the boutique stores of United States.
