LOCATION OF REUNION : The Department of Reunion is locared in the southern region of the African cintinent. Reunion is an island nation and also an overseas teritorry of France. Indian Ocean surrounds the country. Madagascar is a neighboring country of Reunion and it lies in the western side. The Mauritius island is also located vary close to the country.

PHYSICAL MAP OF REUNION : The land of Reunion is covered primarily with mountainous regions. The coastal regions also cover a considerable area of the country. These coastal regions are also fertile in nature. Volcanoes, mountains, hills, uplands and lowlands are seen on the face of this country. The highest elevation of the country is the Piton des Neiges that rises almost 3,069 meters above the sea level. Piton de la Fournaise is a volcano, which is still active.

CLIMATE OF REUNION : The climate of the Department of Réunion is tropical in nature. The winter season continues from May to November. The weather remains cold and arid during these months. On the other hand summer stays between November and April. These are months are characterized with warm weather and heavy rainfall.

FLORA AND FAUNA OF REUNION :

Flora : The vegetation of the country is rich with different species of plants. The mountainous regions are specially known for deep forests.

Fauna : Animal life is also diverse in the Department of Réunion. Various species of mammals such as the black rat, the crab eating Macaque, farm animals, deer, rabbits and horses etc are found in the forests of the country. Besides that tortoise, lizards, boas etc are can also be found here.
