    LOCATION OF ISLE OF MAN

    The Isle of Man is a beautiful island quietly nestled within the Irish Sea, geographically based in the centre point of the British Isles. The Isle of Man is an archipelago off shoring the northwestern coast along the mainland area of Europe. The province is placed along the Irish Sea that just lies halfway, lying in the midst of England, Scotland and Ireland.

The northern region are covered with hilly terrains while the southern area are covered with central valley which is cut across by the central valley. The extreme norths are remarkably flat in nature, with glacial deposits coming from the Western Scotland in the winter season.
  • The Island of Isle of Man stretches from the northern region to the southern end to about 52 kilometers long while it extends to about 22 km from eastern front to western front.

    Among the long stretch of mountainous range the highest peak of the area is Snaefell that stands at a height of 2,036 feet long. The Island's flat northern plains are bordered with long sandy stretches while the rocky terrain and the coastline inlets catch your glance. The coastline covers a distance of 160 km along the overall area.

    CLIMATE OF ISLE OF MAN

    The Isle of Man possesses temperate kind of weather condition while lying close to the Irish Sea, with restricted extreme conditions. The winter season is rarely accompanied with snowfall and frost. The month of February is subjected to severe frosty conditions where temperature reaches to about 4.9 C with relatively dry atmosphere.

    The months of April, May and June are summer months where May, June and July are considered as the sunniest months. July and August are the usually warm in nature with a rise in temperature to about 17.6 C daily. The highest temperature can be witnessed in Ronaldsway that reaches to upto 28.9 C, rarely tempered by thunderstorms.

    The island is sometimes affected with sea fog along the southern and eastern coasts during the springtime, but the western coast are rarely affected. With the rise in altitude one would notice an increase in precipitation along with the presence of hill fogs in the region.

    FLORA AND FAUNA OF ISLE OF MAN

    With multiplicity of wild species residing in the region, the Manx Wildlife Trust that aims in preserving the wild life species, designated the area of Isle of Man as one of the finest Nature Reserves.

    The Manx Loaghtan is a popular kind of sheep found in the region of Scotland along with the Britain coastal areas. The word Loaghtan derives from the word lughdhoan, which signifies the meaning, that is mouse-brown. The shallow waters are brimming with native shark that eat on plankton. Manx shearwaters, grey wagtails, peregrine the red-legged chough are some of the bird species found in this region.

    Find wild orchids blooming all around the year along with the eye-catching species of the yellow Ragwort, which is natively known as Cushag, is the Manx National Flower that blossoms in late summer months.

    Manx Wildlife Trust, Ayres Nature Reserve, Curraghs Wildlife Park are some of the natural preserves nestled within the region.
