Why the US has a competitive edge over China

When the first Chinese American to be an ambassador to China left his post last month, a newspaper called Gary Locke a "banana," which meant that he was white on the inside and yellow on the outside. They called him a traitor to his race.
The term is not only a slur but also goes on to show why the US has an edge over China.
"To put it very simply: America makes Chinese Americans, but China does not - and does not particularly want to - make Americans Chinese," Eric Liu of CNN said. He mentioned that the US makes it possible for all kinds of people to become successful and the same is not the case with China.
"China may be four times more populous than America," he said. "But America is many times more diverse, intermingled, open, and adaptive than China."
