Veterans Day Military Parade Postponed to 2019
August 17 , 2018
The Veterans Day military parade has been postponed until at least 2019 by the US defense officials. The figures indicate that the event would cost around $90 million, which is roughly about 3 times what was estimated originally.
After witnessing the event of France's Bastille Day in 2017, the US President Donald Trump wanted a better version of it. However, the nation's capital's Columbia Council at the time expressed displeasure over the plan. Democratic party's members echoed the sentiment of skepticism, with Congressman Jim McGovern calling it a waste of money. The parade originally had the motto to honor the veterans and celebrate World War one's end.
