UN employee dies of Ebola in German clinic

  • A 56-year-old UN medical official who contracted Ebola in Liberia has died at a hospital in Germany.

    The Sudanese man was flown to Leipzig, Germany, from Liberia on a special plane with an isolation chamber. His condition on arrival at the clinic in Leipzig was described by doctors as “highly critical, but stable.”

    On Tuesday, the clinic said in a statement that he died the previous night despite “intensive medical measures” and the medical staff’s “best efforts.”
