July 11 , 2017
Ukraine will restart discussions with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) with a view to joining the group that is led by the US. The country is also expected to work on reforms so that it can meet membership standards by 2020. Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine, recently met Jens Stoltenberg, the Secretary-General of NATO, while he was on a visit over there and discussed the chances of Ukraine becoming a member. In fact, Stoltenberg has also asked Russia to remove its forces from eastern Ukraine where it is backing an insurgency.
