Thailand eradicates mother-to-child HIV transmission

Thailand has become the first country in the Asia-Pacific region to eradicate mother-to-child transmission of HIV and Syphilis. The World Health Organization congratulated the country on its achievement. According to media reports, around 450,000 people were living with HIV in the country in 2014. In a ceremony held in New York, the Thai minister of health was given a certificate of validation.
