Tensions Rising High as Greece Warns Turkey

  • Greek Defence Minister warned Turkey of retaliation towards any provocation reigniting the tension mounted in the Aegean and eastern Mediterranean Seas. The Turkish President Erdogan warned of a Brexit-like vote from the European Union negotiations.

    Prompted by the war of words between these countries, the defence experts fear that any accident may spiral out of control in this region. The countries are NATO allies; however, conflict has taken place in 1974 over Cyprus and in 1996 had almost gone to war over the uninhibited Aegean Isle.
