TB hits world's children twice as hard as believed
March 25 , 2014
World TB day has met with some gloomy details about its presence among the kids of the world. A recent study revealed that up to 1 million kids under the ages of 15 suffer tuberculosis each year. Moreover, two-thirds of all cases are not even diagnosed.
Reuters notes that researchers focused more on adults when it came to TB but adults are more likely to pass it on and the methods of diagnosis used on them don't necessarily work on kids.
"These 1 million children are missed opportunities for preventing TB every year," the co-senior author of the study said.
