March 6 , 2018
The government of Sri Lanka has imposed a nation-wide state of emergency. It is to take action against people who are instigating communal violence. The emergency is declared for 10 days after Buddhists and Muslims clashed in the Indian Ocean island's central district of Kandy. This action is taken to rein the spread of communal violence. Tension has been growing between the two communities in Sri Lanka due to the Buddhist accusations over Muslim communities which are forcing people to convert to Islam.
