South Korean nuclear firm launches cyber-attack drills after threats from a hacker

  • South Korea’s nuclear power plant operator launched a two-day drill to test its ability to foil a cyber-attack after a suspected hacker leaked the designs and manuals for two reactors on Twitter. According to the spokesman of Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP), the drill was conducted in four nuclear plants. KHNP is the country's only nuclear operator that operates 23 reactors and supplies about 30% of South Korea's total electricity. As per the latest reports, the anonymous hacker has threatened to release more information if three reactors are not shut down from 25 December.
