Russia's nuclear threats 'destabilizing and dangerous': Nato chief

  • Nato’s chief has described the “nuclear sabre-rattling” by Russia as “destabilizing and dangerous”.

In blunt remarks, Jens Stoltenberg, the Nato secretary general, said that Russia’s possible deployment of nuclear-capable missiles near Poland’s border and its threat to move its nuclear forces in the annexed region of Crimea will “fundamentally change” the security balance in the continent.

Stoltenberg, who is a former Norwegian prime minister, described the Putin administration’s use of “nuclear rhetoric, exercises and operations” as “deeply troubling”.
