Report lists security lapses behind White House intrusion
November 14 , 2014
Poor communication and several lapses were the reasons why an armed intruder dodged guards and entered the White House in September, a report has found.
Omar Gonzalez, who jumped over the fence, managed to run past guards and was stopped when he was well inside the building.
Agents of the elite Secret Service failed to react on time or properly, the report says.
Julia Pierson, the head of the Secret Service, resigned after mounting criticism of the agency over this and other incidents.
