Remains of King Richard III reach Leicester ahead of reburial
March 23 , 2015
The remains of England’s King Richard III reached Leicester Cathedral, where his coffin would be on public view until the reburial on Thursday.
Cannons were fired at Bosworth, where the king died in battle in 1485, as a tribute.
His remains were found in 2012 underneath a car parking area.
White roses were placed on the coffin in a ceremony attended by descendants of the king’s family among others.
Leicester’s mayor Peter Soulsby said this was an opportunity to bury the former king with “dignity and honor”.
