Pro-democracy activists in Hong Kong storm government headquarters
September 27 , 2014
Dozens of young protesters broke into the government headquarters of Hong Kong, as the pro-democracy agitation gathered steam in the city.
Police managed to pull out at least 100 protesters from the complex, but some 50 remained inside till Saturday morning. Thirteen protesters were reportedly arrested.
The weekend demonstrations are part of a campaign by student groups and democracy activists against last month's announcement by Beijing effectively giving itself a decisive say in the 2017 polls to Hong Kong’s top chief executive post.
