Pakistan: Gunmen kill lawyer representing Osama's doctor; Taliban groups claim responsibility

  • Gunmen have killed a lawyer representing a Pakistani doctor who helped the CIA in its search for Osama Bin Laden. According to media reports, the lawyer, Samiullah Afridi, was returning home when his car was fired upon by assailants in Pakistan’s Peshawar city. The lawyer, who had fled Pakistan in 2013 following death threats by militants, had returned to the country last year but was no longer working on the doctor’s case. Two splinter groups of Taliban have claimed responsibility for the killing.
