May 13 , 2015
The North Korean regime has executed its defense chief Hyon Yong Chol on charges of treason, according to the South Korean intelligence.
The execution, if proved true, would be another of several such high-level purges ordered by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
According to comments made by the South Korean intelligence to a parliamentary group, anti-aircraft guns were used to execute Hyon as hundreds of people watched.
Hyon had spoken at a conference in Russia as recently as April.
