Nigerian presidential poll: Early results put Buhari ahead
March 31 , 2015
Early results in the Nigerian presidential poll indicate that former military ruler Gen Muhammadu Buhari is ahead of president Goodluck Jonathan.
With results of more than half of the states declared, the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) is said to be ahead by around two million votes. But that could change as key states such as Lagos have not yet declared the results.
The candidates gaining maximum votes in the initial round will have to face a run-off unless he gets at least one-fourth of the votes in two-thirds of the country’s states.
