Myanmar's parliament resumes sessions after elections

  • Myanmar's two parliamentary houses resumed their 13th sessions here on Monday, a week after the country's November 8 general elections. Speaker of the House of Representatives (Lower House) U Shwe Mann delivered a speech at the opening of the session, Xinhua reported. Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of Myanmar's opposition party National League for Democracy that has won a landslide victory in the election, attended the lower house session as a representative. The sessions of the two houses will be followed by that of the union parliament comprising both houses. Source: IANS
