Money is a hurdle in destroying Syria chemical weapons
November 6 , 2013
The noble prize winning Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons is not only responsible for the destruction of chemical weapons in Syria, but also has to raise money in order to complete the task.
OPCW has currently raised $13.5M but this amount will only last until November, which means that the organization will have to come up with more cash to be able to ship the weapons out of Syria for destruction.
The US is the No. 1 donor and has been joined by countries such as Germany, Canada and Britain.
Experts have given a range of the final tab to be anywhere from tens to hundreds of millions.
