Modi speaks to the nation in first radio address

  • Reaching out to millions of Indians who don’t have access to television, prime minister Narendra Modi delivered his first radio speech, titled “Mann ki Baat (A talk from the heart)”.

The speech was run on the state-controlled All India Radio as well as several private FM channels.

In his 15-minute speech, Modi urged people to wholeheartedly take part in the Clean India campaign launched by the government on October 2.

Some political observers see this as another example of the prime minister’s innovative efforts to reach the public directly, bypassing other channels such as press conferences and media interviews.
