Long-term financial commitment sought for Afghanistan
December 4 , 2014
Over 50 countries are expected to be part of a London conference, which aims to provide support to Afghanistan following the withdrawal of foreign troops, media reports say.
Aid agencies have stressed the need for long-term financial commitments from the international community, the absence of which could see the country collapse, they warn.
The London meeting comes amid rising Taliban attacks in Afghanistan.
President Ashraf Ghani is seeking backing for his agenda that would in part ensure no financial aid cuts after the foreign troops go away.
