Israeli air strikes: UN official calls for probe
July 12 , 2014
A top human rights official of the UN has called for a probe into Israel’s air attacks on Gaza which have killed more than 100 Palestinians including 23 children.
Navi Pillay, the United Nations high commissioner for human rights, said the “deeply disturbing reports” on civilian deaths in Gaza had raised serious doubt about whether the air strikes were in accordance with “international humanitarian law and international human rights law.”
However, Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu shrugged off international criticism of his government’s actions.
