Intelligence Agencies Want Covert Access to WhatsApp Chats

Five leading intelligence agencies from around the world are looking for ways to gain access to group chats on WhatsApp and other encrypted communications in order to strengthen intelligence gathering. The “Five-Eyes” nations including United Kingdom (UK), United States (US), Australia, Canada and New Zealand were part of a two-day low profile meeting in London which was hosted by the new UK home secretary, Priti Patel. An official confirmed that the reason behind the demand for covert access to these apps is to combat terrorism and child abuse.
