Hong Kong government will hold talks with protesters this week

  • Hong Kong officials say that the government will hold talks with representatives of pro-democracy activists on political reform this week.

This would be the first time the two sides will meet after protests broke out.

Though student leaders have refused to withdraw from protest sites until discussion are successfully completed, the number of protesters have dwindled in the last three days.

Hong Kong chief executive Leung Chun-ying said the authorities were seeking a sincere dialogue.
