German Federal Election: German Chancellor Merkel wins another term

  • As per the exit polls, Angela Merkel has won the fourth term as German Chancellor. Merkel's Christian Democratic Union (CDU)/ Christian Social Union (CSU) came first with 32% votes while Social Democrats were second with 20% votes. However, a strong show was put up by a right-wing party Alternative for Germany (AfD) which took 13% votes. AfD is expected to hold some 87 seats in the Parliament and is first  far right party to enter Bundestag in six decades. German Federal Elections were held on September 24, 2017. As per media reports, Angela Merkel told supporters on Sunday that, “we want to win back AfD votes” by solving country's problem.
