France: American passengers overpower gunman, prevent train massacre

  • Two American passengers reportedly overpowered a gunman who opened fire on a train in northern France.

    Three people, including one of the American passengers who tackled the gunman, have been injured.

    The incident occurred on the Thalys service, a high-speed train network, near Arras in northern France.

    The gunman, said to be a 26-year-old Moroccan, was arrested at Arras station. According to some reports, the men who overpowered him and thwarted a possible massacre belong to the US military.
