Farmers who shot Bangladeshi strawberry pickers acquitted by Greek court
July 31 , 2014
There has been outrage in Greece after a court acquitted local farmers, who admitted shooting Bangladeshi strawberry pickers when they had simply asked for months of unpaid dues.
The migrants were shot in April 2013 at a farm in Manolada. Four Bangladeshis were badly injured in the incident.
Anti-racist activists and left-wing politicians have slammed the verdict. Petros Constantinou, an anti-racism campaigner, urged unions and human rights groups to “react against this unprecedented racist scandal.”
