Elie Wiesel died at 87

Elie Wiesel, who was a Holocaust survivor, an author who fought for peace, human rights and simple human decency, died at 87. He died peacefully after a prolonged illness in Israel. Wiesel was honored with Noble Peace Prize in the year 1986 for his contribution to humanity. Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel said, “he was ray of light and greatness of humanity who believed in the good in man”. Elie Wiesel’s experience of Holocaust was narrated in his memoir ‘Night’, originally published in French as ‘La Nuit’. It was translated into 30 languages and millions of copies have been sold since it was first published.
