Corruption scandal: Swiss authorities seize computer data from FIFA
June 11 , 2015
FIFA, the world soccer governing body, has handed over computer data to police in Switzerland investigating the 2018 and 2022 World Cup bids.
FIFA has said that it is fully cooperating with Swiss investigators. The United States’ FBI is also conducting a probe into FIFA corruption.
Fourteen people, including nine former or current FIFA officials, have so far been indicted.
The main focus of the investigation is whether bribes were given in the process of awarding the next two World Cups to Russia and Qatar.
