China and Japan Pledges to Forge Closer Ties at "Historic Turning Point"

  • China and Japan have reportedly signed a wide array of agreements at a “historic turning point” on Friday as both the countries pledged to forge closer ties. The agreements including a $30 billion currency swap pact were signed during Japanese PM Shinzo Abe’s 3-days Beijing visit. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said that signing of deals worth billions of dollars reflects the “bright prospects” for cooperation between China and Japan. After meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday, Shinzo Abe said that the close neighbors “will not become a threat to each other” and pledged to “carve out a new era for China and Japan”. Chinese President Xi Jinping said that his country will ensure that the positive momentum continues.
