Central Japan Put Under COVID-19 Emergency After Rising Virus Cases

Central Japan on Thursday declared a state of emergency due to rising virus cases and has also asked people to curb outside activities, especially during the upcoming holidays. After an extended period of zero COVID-19 cases daily, 100 new infections were reported since mid-July. Further, businesses are also being asked to close altogether or close early and people are being asked to stay at home in order to prevent any further spread of the novel virus. So far, Japan has reported nearly 42,700 Coronavirus cases and about 1,000 fatalities as per Johns Hopkins University.
