Arrested Saudi Arabian Elites Getting Released After Paying Hefty Corruption Penalties

  • Reports say the Saudi Arabian elites (including MBC television network head Waleed al-Ibrahim, a former chief of the royal court Khalid al-Tuwaijiri, and many princes, wealthy business persons, and politicians) have been released after paying up substantial financial settlements (undisclosed yet). The Saudi elites were arrested and detained in Riyadh’s plush Ritz Carlton hotel since November, on the behest of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, on charges of corruption. After the detention, attorney general of Saudi Arabia said that over $100 Billion were misused through systematic corruption. Prince Alwaleed bin Talal (one of the highest-profile detainees) has told media agencies that he’s expecting release from custody soon.
