10,000 migrants arrive in Austria amid bitter rows between EU nations
September 20 , 2015
About 10,000 migrants arrived in Austria on Saturday as EU nations continued to speak in many voices about the ongoing migrant crisis.
Croatia, saying it couldn’t cope with the influx, had sent the migrants into Hungary, from where they were sent to Austria. A senior Austrian police officer claimed that Hungary had not given sufficient warnings about the arrivals.
In a sign of increasing bitterness between states, Hungary’s foreign minister Peter Szijjarto described Croatia’s Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic as “pathetic” for his handling of the situation.
