Researchers say that the volume of the world’s oldest water is far greater than previously estimated.
The liquid, which is locked deep inside the Earth's crust, includes water that is billions of years old. It is found several miles below the ground.
According to the study, the water is around 11m cubic km, more than all the river, swamp and lake water taken together.
The study was published in Nature magazine.
