Philae lander finds organic molecules on comet surface

  • The Philae lander has reportedly sent back evidence of chemicals containing carbon and hydrogen, on the comet’s surface.

The spacecraft had landed on the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko last week.

After beaming back the latest tantalizing information, it went into a hibernation state to preserve its shrinking power supply.

Researchers believe that the discovery could hold clues about the Earth’s chemical compositions in the early phases that paved way for life, media reports said.
