Over 20 million tweets sent about Sandy
November 4 , 2012
More than 20 million tweets about superstorm Sandy were tweeted between Saturday and Thursday, Twitter has revealed.
The number exceeds the 13.7 million tweets sent during the Super Bowl in February, seen as the largest media event of the year.
In recent years, the micro-messaging website has emerged as a communication channel and source of information during major disasters, such as in the wake of the 2011 tsunami in Japan.
The 20 million tweets included the terms "sandy," "hurricane," "#sandy" and "#hurricane”.
