Microsoft sells more than one million Xbox One consoles in 24 hours

Microsoft proclaimed that over one million Xbox One consoles were sold within 24 hours of its release in 13 countries worldwide, including the United States, New Zealand, Australia, France, Britain, and Brazil. Most retail stores in these countries were sold out by the end of the day.
Microsoft's previous gaming console the Xbox 360 was the top-selling console in North America. The Xbox One, priced at $500, goes beyond gaming extending its features to online films, music, social networking and more. Microsoft said it wished to create a complete home entertainment experience with the Xbox one. Its nearest competitor is Sony's Play Station 4, which is priced at $400. Analysts predict that the console segment of the video game market is likely to grow from $44 billion to $49 billion in 2013.
