January 14 , 2013
Taiwanese smartphone company HTC launched its smartphones in Myanmar on Monday.
The firm is the latest to enter the country’s largely untapped market after the government began implementing reforms to open up the economy, ending decades of military rule.
The phones will come with a Burmese language on-screen keyboard. According to HTC, the keyboards are the most advanced available.
Myamar has one of the lowest mobile penetration rates in the world.
World Bank estimates suggest that in 2011 only 3 percent of the population had a cell phone.
