Google pays $3.2B on acquiring Nest
January 15 , 2014
Google is now going to reach into people's homes with the help of a startup firm, which makes Internet-connected thermostats and fire alarms.
The company reportedly paid $3.2B to acquire Nest but mentioned that the firm will continue to operate on its own. Google had already invested millions in the startup and the acquisition has resulted in many jokes regarding smoke alarms.
However, it appears to be a good deal for Nest as well as Google, which has gained several hardware experts and a method of learning about human interaction with such devices.
