Digg to merge with News.me daily briefing service

News aggregator website Digg has been sold to New York-based technology group Betaworks.
Digg made the announcement on its blog, saying it would be merged with the daily briefing service News.me.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the deal is worth $500,000.
Digg allows users to submit and vote on news stories and decide which are to be promoted on the site.
The site has received more than 28 million story submissions, 350 million article votes and 40 million comments since it was launched towards the end of 2004.
It is one of the 100 most visited sites on the Internet.
