Olympic ring flops during Sochi ceremony
February 9 , 2014
The opening ceremony for the Sochi Games saw an unusual circumstance when one of the five snowflakes that was supposed to become the fifth Olympic ring, didn't turn out as expected. Moreover, none of the rings burst into fireworks and the high-profile glitch led to the the official Russian broadcaster called Rossya 1 to shift the footage to a previous rehearsal showing perfect rings.
Producer Konstantin Ernst dismissed the incident and said "it would be ridiculous to focus on this ring that never opened, it would be simply silly."
"Let us not make a sensation out of that," he said.
