Nadal and Sharapova win Indian Wells titles

  • Rafael Nadal beat Juan Martin del Potro 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in Sunday's final at the $4.33 million BNP Paribas Open, marking his 600th career win.

    The Spaniard’s latest triumph will move him up to no. 4 in the world rankings.

    The victory sees Nadal earning his 53rd career singles title and a record 22nd ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crown, including a third in Indian Wells.

    In the women’s event, Maria Sharapova cruised to victory beating Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 6-2.

    The win gave the second-seeded Russian her 28th career singles title and marks her second in Indian Wells.
