Golf bodies ban anchored putting
May 22 , 2013
The United States Golf Association and the Royal & Ancient Golf Club announced on Tuesday a rule change banning anchored strokes.
Players will now be prohibited to place the shaft of long putters against their bodies while making a stroke.
The new rule, first proposed in November last year, will come into effect from January 2016 in accordance with the four-year cycle for changes to the rule book.
Long putters will still be allowed as long as players swing the club away from their bodies.
